There's a very tall oak tree in the front yard next door. It's way taller than the telephone lines, and it's trimmed well back from them. It's also not very wide. Ever since my kids and I saw the movie "Bridge to Terebethia" (highly recommended, BTW), that tree has been the giant mountain troll that protects our house.
Lately, the tree has dropped its leaves, making the troll look like it's gone bald. My daughter noticed this in the morning as we walked past it to the bus stop. Pointing at the tree, she exclaimed: "the Control Have No Hair!".
"Control". Get it?

I'm BACK!
Oh man. Where to start? It's been so long (I wonder how many blogger posts start out this way).
OK, so I'll make it short. I just dug up my old blogger address by accident. I'm putting together a new web site for myself as a musician, and was experimenting with bandzoogle to do it. I like what I came up with, but I don't want to pay for it. I'm going to try and do what I need to do with my own site for a while.
But anyway, in the process of wanting to start a blog called "mikeswirled", I came across this one -- that I'd already started years ago. I guess good ideas don't fade away. I've decided that this will be my only blog. For the record, if you're interested in anything else I've ever written, here it is:

- Our second trip to Kazakhstan
- Keep it Funny
- I Teach Math (BTW... I no longer teach math)
